If I Take a car service to islamorada, will that limit me from seeing the town?
If you are staying at the Cheeca it is very central to the main area, which has many shops and restaurants that are walkable. Cheeca guests will also have access to the Cheeca’s free 24-hour shuttle service that travels within 2 miles north or south of the resort (subject to shuttle availability, guests can not reserve the shuttle in advance).
If you want to see it all and are not in the walking mood, golf carts are a common way to get around the village. You can rent one for a day or for the length of your stay with Islamorada Luxury Golf Carts.
Please inquire with the alternative nearby resorts we recommended about transportation they may offer if deciding to stay elsewhere.
While in islamorada
If you are without a car or just don’t want to drive, there are a few transportation options to get around town.
If you want to see it all and are not in the walking mood, golf carts are a common way to get around the village. You can rent one for a day or for the length of your stay with Islamorada Luxury Golf Carts.
Uber is available on the island but are scarce compared to the mainland and cities. We recommend booking Ubers in advance or allocating extra time to be matched with a driver when using the service.
In addition to Uber, we recommend downloading the Ride Freebee app from the App Store or from Google Play. Freebee provides a door-to-door transportation service around Islamorada for FREE with environmentally friendly electric vehicles. Rides are available from the north (approximately Mile Marker 90) to the south end (approximately Mile Marker 72) of the Village. Be a good person and tip your drivers if you use this service, because again, it’s FREE. If you don’t have a smartphone, you may call 855-918-3733 to request a ride.
